During banana cultivation, Fusarium wilt is the primary threat—a devastating soil-borne fungal disease. Research indicates a strong correlation between the occurrence of banana Fusarium wilt and soil acidification, compaction, and organic matter deficiency. Therefore, soil improvement serves as another crucial agricultural control measure for effectively managing this disease. Banana Fusarium wilt tends to occur in acidic sandy or sandy loam soils with a pH below 6.0, while neutral or slightly alkaline soil environments can suppress the germination and pathogenicity of fungi, including Fusarium oxysporum.
